What are lessons like?
I recently watched a 6-year-old learn London Bridge in about 5 minutes.

I did have to show her a couple of notes, but I mostly just sat back and encouraged her to find what comes next on her own.

London Bridge has some tricky fingerings. Your hand doesn’t get to stay in the same position the entire song. But that never came up in the lesson, because her hand had already figured out where to go.

This is a typical experience when my students learn a new song. Instead of fighting with wrong notes, let’s focus on making beautiful music.

Here is what you will get when you study piano with me:
-
In our weekly private lessons, your child will learn to play real music with a beautiful touch.
-
Bi-weekly group classes build confidence in performing for friends, and they let us explore theory by doing it.
-
My complementary Parent Education class will show you how to support your child’s learning at home.
-
I have a flat monthly fee of $150 and a flexible make-up policy. This keeps the logistics as simple as possible for both of us.

Your first steps

To help you make your decision, you can have up to three free lessons before you make any commitments:

-
A half-hour lesson so our child and I can get to know each other.
-
A one-hour parent education class. (Required if your child is under 10. Strongly encouraged otherwise.)
-
You can attend one of our one-hour group classes on Sundays.
